About The Recipe

Thai Fried Bananas (Kluay Kaek) are a common dessert in Thailand. They can be found at street vendors all throughout the country. The coconut batter, when fried, adds a crispy fragrant crust around the sweetness of the banana. Normally served out of a paper bag and eaten with a bamboo skewer, a great way to serve them at home is with ice cream. The blend of cold and hot is delicious!

Turned out great! Our batter was actually a bit thick, so we added a bit more water. Thanks for the recipe and helpful video. We will definitely make these again.

Oh My! These were absolutely fabulous! No problem with the recipe whatsoever! A huge hit at our International Cooking Night club! I wish I could indulge in this dessert often, but I have to save it for very, very special occasions.

its a good recipe! I also had the "thin batter" problem. Made it a second time and paid close attention to ingredient amounts, AND, let batter sit for about 20 minutes before using, it worked much better, thickened up and coated well. Batter keeps great in fridge, so you can make just one or two bananas for a snack whenever. Adding about 2X as much sesame and coconut, makes them tastier, especially if you want to eat them without ice cream. Great website, recipes and approach, would like to see her expand it.

This recipe wasted a lot of ingredients and Im glad I only did one half of the recipe.
It was a big mess and everything fell off the bananas as soon as they hit the hot oil.
A better recipe is to wrap the bananas in frozen wrappers. I'm still wondering how the authors got the batter to stay on the bananas???
If the DVD recipes are anything like this (a flop) I don't think many will be buying it esp. if you can get better recipes FREE on the web!

its really uneasy to cook this bananas because bananas are not getting really coated with the batter well,, resulting in uneven fried bananas>.
